China is going to launch an artificial ‘moon’ to light up cities

The fake moon’s glow is predicted to light up an area with a diameter of 10-80km; with its precise illumination range being controlled within a few dozen meters, making it eight times as bright as the real moon.

The south-western Chinese city of Chengdu is planning on launching a fake moon into space in hopes of it illuminating the entire country.

The project is set to be completed in 2020 and, according to People’s Daily, the artificial moon is “designed to complement the moon at night”.

The fake moon’s glow is predicted to light up an area with a diameter of 10-80km; with its precise illumination range being controlled within a few dozen meters, making it eight times as bright as the real moon.

The artificial moon’s brightness will be enough to entirely replace street lights.

The project was introduced to the public by Wu Chunfeng, chairman of Chengdu Aerospace Science and Technology Microelectronics System Research Institute Co., Ltd.

Wu made the announcement at a national mass innovation and entrepreneurship activity held in Chengdu on October 10.

Wu explained that the testing of the illumination satellite started years ago, and now the technology has finally matured.

The project has sparked concern from the public, as many began to worry that the lights reflected from space could affect the daily routines of certain animals.

Kang Weimin, director of the Institute of Optics, School of Aerospace, Harbin Institute of Technology, assured that the light of the satellite is similar to a dusk-like glow, so it should not affect animals’ routines.

The cost of the project has not yet been announced.

A similar project was planned by Russian researchers in 1999, as plans were made to use orbiting mirrors to light up cities in Siberia, hoping it would be a cheaper alternative to electric lighting.

The scheme developed by Russia used a device called Znamya 2. It was equipped with a 25-meter mirror to illuminate a three-mile-wide patch of land.

During its first orbit the craft was destroyed following a collision in space. The scheme was abandoned, reported the Telegraph.

Former Satanist Warns Christians about Celebrating Halloween

Ramirez warns Halloween isn’t just about costumes and candy – there’s a much darker reality.

Should Christians celebrate Halloween? Opinions differ between Christian leaders, lay people and church members.

According to a CBN News Facebook poll, 87% of believers feel that Christians should not celebrate Halloween, while 13% believe it’s okay.

Former Satanist John Ramirez recently joined Charlene Aaron on CBN News‘ Prayer Linkto talk about Christians and Halloween.

“I was a general to the kingdom of darkness in witchcraft,” Ramirez said. “I would sit with the Devil and talk to him like I’m talking to you today. It was that kind of communication. It was that kind of relationship.”

Ramirez warns Halloween isn’t just about costumes and candy – there’s a much darker reality.

“Sometimes people say, ‘I celebrated Halloween 10 years ago, I did this 15 years ago, I did this 20 years ago.’ But the door’s still open. You just cursed your family from three to four generations,” Ramirez told CBN News.

“You have to be aware it’s a curse. You have to go back to the place where you started, that year that you started that Halloween thing, the celebration when you started having that encounter with the dark side. You have to go back to that same spot and renounce and renounce it in the name of Jesus Christ and ask God to forgive you for that so that God can have mercy and close that door so your whole family can move forward,” he continued.

Ramirez, now a pastor, knows all about the dark reality of Halloween. He once sacrificed animals as part of satanic rituals and his friends even knew him as “Lucifer’s son.”

Now as a born again believer, he strongly warns Christians against celebrating Halloween and participating in harvest festivals.

“The only harvest we should celebrate is the harvest of souls,” he adds.

Ramirez says that in his opinion the other events Christians hold instead of Halloween, such as “Trunk or Treat” nights, are really no different.

“Do you know any Satanists who say, ‘Hey, we’re going to come into Good Friday and we’re going to hang out with the Christians and we’re just going to call it a different name?”

However, Pastor Alan Rudnick believes that Christians should take back Halloween.

“Halloween is often associated with the pagan concept of Samhain, the festival where ancient pagans believed that the worlds of the living and dead would have been thinly divided,” he writes on his blog. “But, we have seen from the other ancient pagan festivals associated with Christmas and Easter that these pagan connections do not serve as a reason why we cannot celebrate a Christian holiday.”

According to the website Equipping Godly Women, Halloween can be a good opportunity for outreach and to teach about good vs. evil.

However, Anton LaVey, the late founder of the Church of Satan, once said he took joy in believers taking part in the tradition.

“I am glad that Christian parents let their children worship the devil at least one night out of the year,” he said. “Welcome to Halloween.”

Canada legalizes ‘Weed’ and Stores run out of supplies!

Canada on Wednesday became the world’s first major economy and only the second country in the world, after Uruguay, to legalize the recreational use of cannabis and embark on the controversial experiment in drug policy.

Canada on Wednesday became the world’s first major economy and only the second country in the world, after Uruguay, to legalize the recreational use of cannabis and embark on the controversial experiment in drug policy.

Liberal Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has defended legalization — the fulfillment of a 2015 campaign promise — as intended to protect young people and to shut down drug dealers.

Day two of legal recreational cannabis in Canada on Thursday saw more long lineups outside pot stores and supply shortages in parts of the country.

Most consumers were exuberant about the end of prohibition, but a few expressed disappointment over not being able to buy cannabis on the first day.

Others balked at the relatively high prices — ranging from Can$5.25 (US$4.02) in Quebec to Can$18.99 in Saskatchewan per gram — compared to the black market that saw average prices plunge in the last year to Can$6.79 per gram.

“I do not usually smoke but since it was a historic day for Canada I thought I’d try,” she told AFP.

Despres smoked bought pot with a low level of THC, the psychoactive agent in cannabis.

“My God it’s the bomb!” she said — and returned with friends Thursday to buy more.

In Ontario, Canada’s most populated province, 38,000 orders for weed worth about Can$750,000 were processed in the first few hours Wednesday (total figures for the day were not yet available), while in neighboring Quebec 42,000 orders were processed in-store and online, smashing all expectations.

“This volume of orders far exceeds the forecasts of the SQDC,” the Quebec government pot retailer said.

It said it was “difficult to anticipate the volume of sales … given the lack of data from a sector that 48 hours ago was still illegal.”

The statement added that short-term supply shortages are expected due to “the craze surrounding legalization of cannabis and the scarcity of product across Canada.”

Canada’s smallest provinces on the Atlantic coast, Nova Scotia and Prince Edward Island, posted Can$660,000 and Can$152,000 in sales, respectively.

Supply shortages were already reported in the provinces of Newfoundland and Saskatchewan, as well as in the Arctic territory of Nunavut.

Several online retailers including the Ontario government’s pot portal warned customers to expect shipping delays of up to five days as they worked late into the night filling orders.

Canada Post workers are also poised to strike starting on Monday after more than a year of contract talks stalled, which could further delay deliveries of online orders.

But there has been pushback from some doctors and the opposition Tories against the legalization

In total, Statistics Canada says 5.4 million Canadians will buy cannabis from legal dispensaries in 2018 — about 15 percent of the population. Around 4.9 million already smoke.

“We expected, you know, certain strains might run out and there would be a bit of a run on supply,” Bill Blair, a former Toronto police chief who is the government’s pointman for legalization, told public broadcaster CBC.

“But, you know, they’ve got a pretty good infrastructure in place and I’m confident it will work,” he said.
